Buying Guide for Fish

Sharks won’t grow as prominent in a fish tank as in the open sea. There are certain restrictions that you must follow before opting to buy the most expensive fishes. The idea to bring the ocean’s beauty to your live aquarium and maintain it is a challenge too.

Here are a few things that you need to look at before buying any fish:

Type of Fish

You need to check the type of pet fish before you buy one. There are three tamable fishes for a fish tank and a live aquarium. The first one is temperate fish. The setup is effortless since these fishes can survive at almost any temperature. Just add a filter and gravel in the tank, and these fishes will be happy as a free one.

The second type is cold-water fish. The best thing about these fishes is if tamed, your fish tank or home aquarium won’t require deep cleaning since they tend to eat the growing algae. While living for many years, they also calibrate to survive in home aquarium.

The third and last type is tropical fish. Its seraphic colors and femme fatale shape allure the viewers towards it. The survival is comparatively challenging to maintain since they require warm water, and a fish tank must have a filter, pump, and thermometer to retain it.

Fish Compatibility

If you are taking pet fishes for long-term sustenance, make sure every breed or type of fish you add to the fish tank is compatible. To avoid fierce conflicts and provide a battle free live aquarium, you need to find the reconcilable fishes. The type of fish matters a lot, like putting a plant-eating with meat-eating will surely go into a disadvantage for you.

Along with this, you also need to know that whether or not, the fish is bred outside the ocean or inside. If it is bred in latter, the survival may be difficult since its body is used to a lot of oxygen which not be available in tanks.

The Size of the Fish

You can check anywhere about the age and maximum growth of the fish you are willing to purchase for your fish tank. They may start to overgrow the tank if not made according to the requirements. So make sure the size of the fish doesn’t get affected by the size of the live aquarium.

The fish can never outgrow the tank but its lifespan may decrease if the fish tank does not have optimum conditions. It may grow as much as it should in bigger tanks, like those in community aquariums. But if you are still looking to breed them outside the ocean, make sure the ambiance allows them to lay eggs.

The Fish Tank

The fish tanks are primarily of two types, glass, and acrylic. Remember that the glass tanks are thick yet expensive, whereas the latter are fragile and cheaper. The kind of glass matters a lot when it comes to buying the type of fish. The invertebrates like goldfish might not survive longer in acrylic tanks.

Stability of the fish tank matters a lot. Otherwise the water from the fish aquarium will keep falling and unstable the floor. Anything that destabilizes the aquarium will lead into breaking.

A lot of investment will go down

So it is better to prevent it by putting the aquarium on a stable ground.

The Health of the Fish

You can determine the health of the fish through the scales on its body. While maintaining everything, temperature, cleanliness, etc., of the tank, you forget the food or other, and the fish dies. Before provoking attention towards bigger fishes, start from taming smaller and survivable ones. This way, you will learn all the ‘mistakes made lessons learned’ regarding health.

Fish Food

Previously I talked about fish health. The feed you provide determines it. The smaller, young ones require protein diets. Open the fish food cans before feeding them only; otherwise, it will graciously lose all of its nutritional value. Check out the amount of feed being provided for each fish separately, as too much or too little will kill them.

Fish Territorial

Some big ferocious fishes look for bigger spaces and kill anything that prevents them from achieving this. You cannot call these fishes the enemies but rather battlers fighting for the freedom of movement. So you can say that these battlers have enough room to grow, so they don’t start a conflict for it and maintain the atmosphere of divine and beauty to look.

Seven Most Expensive Fish to Buy

The word expensive is because of the rare nature or breed of the fish. Along with providing atmospheric conditions for survival, these fishes are very hard to find. Such invertebrates are available on-demand, or divers to go precisely deep down to see their habitat. The costs are dependent upon the uniqueness of the breed.

Here are the seven most expensive fishes to buy:

1.   Clarion Angelfish

Depending upon the availability of clarion angelfish, its cost can range from 2500 to 7000 dollars. A mix of divine blue and luminous orange, this pet fish will beautify your fish tank and adjust under various circumstances. It can grow teen inches and live up to forty years of evolving beauty. The required tank size should be no less than 100 gallons.

2.   Wrought Iron Butterflyfish

Wrought iron butterflyfish can cost 2700 dollars, but the metallic look and vivid colors ensure they are worth the payment. Found along the western Pacific Ocean, this species can live up to ten years with 5.9 inches exclusive growth. These black and grey divine looking fishes can add beauty to the tank of more than 80 gallons.

3.   Asian Arowana

Asian Arowana is becoming an endangered species hence the expensive rate. The home aquarium where the buyers most prominently plan to keep it should contain 250 gallons of water. This fish’s worth is 400,000 dollars and requires immense attention on the feed and compatibility with others.

4.   Polka Dot Stingray

The striking beauty of black and white polka-dotted stingray illuminates the home aquarium where the buyers keep it. Alongside the magnificent colors and attractive natural embellishments, this species cannot survive below 500 gallons of water. With life for up to ten years, it can grow 1 foot 6 inches. It costs 100,000 dollars.

5.   Peppermint Angelfish

Like a goldfish, this peppermint angelfish is unique and differs into trimmed down lines of orange and white. This species worth 30,000 dollars is exceptionally engaging to be kept in the live aquarium, with the only condition of providing an ocean-like environment. It can grow 3 inches only and live up to 15 years in 500-gallon water.

6.   Masked Angelfish

The masked angelfish are rare and the most beautiful reef fish found on the Hawaiian island. Costing more than 20,000 dollars, this fish requires 125 gallons of water to live up to 15 years. The black and white-colored masked angelfish have increased demand due to aberrant beauty.

7.   Blade-fin Basslet

The cousin of golden basslet, blade-fine basslet, is a scarce fish and can survive in strict conditions. The high cost is 10,000 dollars because this species isn’t very easy to find. The divers go deep 500 meters into the ocean. These small and minutely growing fishes of 1.5 inches are hard to catch without a net and during transfer needs to maintain conditions. This species can live up to 8 years in 50-gallon water. These fishes tend to stay deep down the oceanic water and available on demand only.

Final Thoughts

While looking for a pet fish, make sure you can handle the prosperity of that species. Certain things are requiring special attention, as I have mentioned above. Don’t let unnecessary hurdles stop you from buying the beauty which attracts you.
